Good afternoon all

I am currently in VRSA carrying out a bit of reconnaissance before hopefully moving here later this year. (I recently retired, and am bringing a boat through the French canals en route to the Med, and from there to Portugal where I hope a shiny new D7 visa will be waiting for me)

Are there any regular meeting spots or events for expats in this area, or is it simply a matter of eavesdropping non-Portuguese conversations and then politely introducing myself (as I did earlier today)?

Many thanks for any thoughts, guidance, or suggestions as to where I might find cheap "accommodation" (as in "I don't actually want to live here yet, but I need to prove I have "accommodation" available as part of the D7 visa application process)

best regards

Andrew

I appreciate your advice !

Hi

I am now back in the UK, but I would recommend that you contact Carl Munson on https://www.youtube.com/@GoodMorningPortugal or Veronica on https://www.youtube.com/@AmericanInPortugal

Both Carl and Veronica are well-connected in Portuguese real estate and immigration advice circles and both offer subscription-based consultancy services

All the best

Andrew

Hello Michele,

Luck you living in Vancouver, one of my favourite cities. Being Irish I can put up with the rain there!

I am sorry but I do not have any rental opportunity, I use my apartment for own and family use.

Kind regards,

DANIEL

Hi Michele, I was lucky I saw an advert and replied as soon as it came up. I had to pay a couple of months rental before I arrived and it wasn't quite the way I expected but at least it got me a place. Keep looking and maybe widen your horizon 😊👍

Hi Michele  I can recommend Nuno at Casas Sotavento in VRSA. He showed us some very nice rentals but we have now found an apartment to buy. Most rentals are from October to May but I'm sure he will do his best for you. Let me know how you get on. Best wishes Marge

Hi Yes have met many US citizens while there and they are a cheerful bunch but no IRISH so far!

That is good to know! I am an American who will be moving to Monte Gordo in September 2023. Also, look forward to meeting other cultures there!
