Relocating Pets

Hi 👋
We are looking at relocating to the Algarve with two well behaved dogs.
We will be driving over to the Algarve with them as I really don’t want them travelling by plane.
Has anyone had any experience in relocating with dogs by car?
What is the procedure and what documents do we need in place?
Any advice or recommendations would be much appreciated.
