We just arrived here to our new apartment on Sunday.  Spoke to lawyer regarding an appointment with AIMA and were told that documentation had to be just as it was when we went to San Francisco - only three months on most docuements.

VFS took that  paperwork, we never opened.  Were not told that this was the case for Portuguese presentation.  Were told we would have to return to California and request FBI report all over again with apostille, etc.

Is this truly the case and we were just not informed?

Thanks for any help we can get.

Please drop the presumption that others automatically can interpret initials!

Hi, we had an appointment in March this year at Portimao, we took everything the lawyer told us to take, we had our DBS criminal checks as requested from England, sadly we were told the same, the documents need to be apostilled and must have 90 days expiry left on our DBS checks …they gave us 10 days to provide new apostilled documents which is impossible… DBS checks takes 14 days as stated on the UK government website… so we flew back to England ordered DBS check and had the documents apostilled in the city by a judge, our lawyer had to apply for a 60 days extension by email which AIMA have still not acknowledged… our lawyer said different offices are asking for different things now, it seems they are making things difficult, our lawyer was shocked by the request… we are still waiting for our residency, yet my 15 year old daughter has hers already as she attends an international school here and we pay her fees, they accepted our documents for her residency appointment but not for our own!! … it’s ridiculous the residency system is completely broken, 2 years we have been living in Portugal.
