I'm have just joined this site and I am friendly. I'm in Portimão since last year and find that most people are very friendly. It really all is down to how you engage with them but so far so good.

Monchique and portuguese people on the whole are very friendly. We have lost our international bar a couple of months ago which was the 'go to' place every Friday. Perhaps a new one will open soon. ( I hope so ). Lunch times there are internationals in the " Grumpy Mamas " just off the square, great food by the way. I am sure that you will soon make friends. Good luck.
