Requirements for the renewal Of Residency card ( after 2 years of residency).

We have asked the same question and the fact is, we don't know how they know or if they know. Anytime you stay in a hotel you show your passport, is that tracked?  We don't know. Take a flight, same thing. You can imagine with data today, they could know. So do you risk your resident permit by travelibg over the required amount?  Others have pointed out, the rule sounds like you need to inform them if you are staying outside the country more than the stated days, but that it may be ok? I have asked how its calculated, as the rule describes months, so how are partial months added up?  I have yet to hear from experts on it do we are just planning on following the rules and not traveling outside Portugal more than what is stipulated in the law.  I'm interested in others opinions and facts on this
