Two-factor Identification for US Banks

Hello, we are working on the details of moving and I'm still not confident about how to make sure I can have easy access to our banks and other sites that require two-factor identification with a text message. The easiest one I have heard and tested is to keep a US service, switch to that service, be sure that service can work on wifi only, get to wifi and switch to airplane mode.
All of this to get the code, it seems really difficult.
What is your system for getting 2FA?
