Hi we’ve recently bought a house in Cabanas and wanted to get some things delivered from Amazon. I read on line that Amazon Spain will deliver and ordered my items but they subsequently canceled the order saying they couldn’t deliver to our address. Anyone else had any success and if so can offer advice? Thx

Hi, I live a lot further west and had no problem with Amazon.es delivery to my house in Portugal. My original account is in the UK, I just added my Portugal address to my addresses and selected it. Is there any possibility it thinks it is delivering to a non-Portuguese address?
My address is terribly vague but with the GPS coordinates given to the driver they found it fine.I wonder if it is anything in your address that is creating the problem?
Yes, it does....mostly! I order from amazon.de to avoid VAT but have found that some businesses, that advertise with Amazon, can be problematic delivering to Portuguese addresses.
The normal process is delivery by courier to your addtess but, if an apartment, that can be problematic, as the courier can't leave the parcel on your doorstep or "around the back!" He'll leave a written notice, sadly in Portuguese, to tell you he attempted delivery unsuccessfully. If he's from CTT your best bet is to go to your local Post Office (CTT) the following day and bring the Notice and your passport., and collect your parcel.
Hi Tina,
I think there is a general 'problem' with deliveries to Portugal.
I read an article last year in 'The Portugal News' that there was a 2,000,000 parcel backlog at a warehouse in Lisbon.
Why?
Because Portugal changed their VAT rates in January 2021 and every parcel now needs the content description and VAT rate charged displayed on the outside of the package. If not they end up either going straight back to the sender or in the warehouse waiting to be manually processed and returned, but not delivered.
Portugal seems to be 'Not deliverable' for many companies ( I guess from above requirement ). ;-(
Not a direct answer, but I hope this helps.

Hi,
We have our parcels from Amazon es and Amazon delivered c/o a local transport company to us. There is always someone to sign for parcels. We put our name together. with their company name and address. They charge us €2 per parcel. Have you a removal company or travel company near you that might do this? We track the parcel so we know when it has arrived. Works well for us.

Sounds good but does the local transport company then deliver the parcel to you. It looks like there is always somebody at home in your residence to accept delivery. However, where apartments are involved, when the occupants might not always be home to accept delivey - that's when problems arise!

OK - thanks for your speedy reply.
Thanks everyone for your really helpful and quick responses. I have just found out there is a business on our complex that will take in deliveries as suggested above so I’m going to give that a try and also Amazon Germany to see if a better option than Spain. Thanks again Tina x
