Driving licence renewal help

Hi all
I've lived in Algarve 10 years, have resident's card, etc. I'm in France for an extended stay and my 2 year driving permit has expired. (I'm 74). Not sure when I'm coming back, so looking for a service, someone I can mandate to act on my behalf and renew it for me.
Med cert isn't an issue as there's portuguese doc online who can provide one. I just need someone to act for me. Lawyer can do it, biut they're very expensive. There's a lady with an office on Rua Directa in Portimao who specializes in that sort of thing, but not too communicative.
Any ideas anyone?
