My name is Tracey and my husband (Paul) and I came across Paderne on a recent property viewing trip. We currently live near Worthing in the UK and are looking to retire to the area next year.
We wondered if there were other folk from the UK in the village, and whether you’d recommend it as a good place to relocate to?
Many Thanks😊

Hi Tracey, my wife (Jacqueline) and I moved to Paderne in Spring 2021. To Almeijoafras to be precise, a hamlet approx 1 km from Paderne centre. We are retirees from UK.

We had a  6-month rental in Ferragudo when we we first came over to Portugal as a base from which to look around and decide where to buy. We are very happy in Paderne and have no regrets at all about our location decision.

The town is well served with doctor, bank, cafes/restaurants and basic shops. Algarve Shopping mall is a 15 min drive away and there are big supermarkets there and at Ferreiras and Boliquieme, also +/-15 mins away. Albufeira is a 20 min drive. There is a monthly market in the village and various fiestas through the year.

It's a peaceful location, even in high summer (which we love) - and very friendly. A fair number of expats, but mainly Portuguese living here. Lovely countryside all around.

If you want a peaceful, non-urban location, not far from main communications and amenities, then Paderne / satellite villages is a great place to consider.

DM me if you want any further info, or to meet up when next you come out.

Good luck.

Seasons greetings,

David Mitchell Innes
