Dear Madam/Sir, about 30 years ago my parents owned a house near Monchique. My father is now elderly and wants to find out what happened to a piece of land he bought alongside my parents' property. I can find it on Google maps. It has not been built on. My father does not have a copy of the land registry deed for this piece of land (not large) or any other documents relating to its purchase. We have a copy of a letter stating that this piece of land was going to be bought. I remember going to the local estate agent's/notary's office with my father. I have tried but cannot make any contact with that agent. I am not sure if they are still in business. How does one go about finding the deeds to a property in Portugal, specifically near Monchique? It may be that my father would like to sell this land but of course he needs proof of ownership. I hope someone can help. I look forward to hearing from you. Kind regards, C A

Thank you for your reply Marta. I have actually just posted another question on this topic, wondering if anyone can recommend a good English speaking lawyer in or near Monchique.
