Hi Jazz,

It all depends on where the water came from and what processing it went through (if any) before it comes out of your tap. ;-(

Probably best to pay an expert to test your water and go from there if you have concerns.

As with most countries, the geology in the Algarve changes frequently East to West and Beach to Hills.

Things to consider :-

House Location

Mains Water

Borehole Water

Well Water

Etc, Etc

I seem to recall an article about improving drinking water across the whole of Portugal a short while ago, in The Portugal News.

They also had an article, about 2 years ago, about cancer from the drinking water (5%, of global population, had a certain cancer in Portugal ).

!!!! If I remember well?? !!!!

Maybe the top article was an update on the older article??

Hi, I live in monte gordo and have lived in Vila Real. I use it all the time, it can have a little taste of flouride but if you use a water filter like brita it tastes fine.  In the countryside  it is probably different and I have no experience with that.
