Irish and UK couple (yes mixed marriage!) early 60s, finally about to make our dream come true by signing on the dotted line tomorrow on the purchase of an apartment in Tavira.  Have been visiting for a couple of years and love the place and would be grateful to learn any tips from other longer term residents. Won't actually make the move for another couple of months but very keen and interested in joining in the community. My interests are pilates, walking and currently volunteer at UK Foodbank. Husband loves music. A bit of yoga and has been active in voluntary work in citizens advice bureau in UK.  So excited to be starting the next stage of our destiny here.

My immediate reaction....jealousy! I over-winter in Lagos and love it (though the December/January weather can be disappointing compared to the rest of the year). I still prefer the summers in Ireland but, when there, always pine for the Algarve!

Tavira is very nice place. We volunteer at a charity called Re-Food in Faro, but I think there is one in Tavira as well. There is a good web site that explains it.

I know a good PT language teacher in Tavira as well, if you want language lessons. He has also lived there for many years, so knows it well. Message me if you want his email?

Hello,

Coming to Tavira for 17 years, living here permanently for three !

Ireland has many great ways and things about it but I do notice the weather is a lot better here !  You really can stay fit here as long as you do not live like your on a permanent holiday.  😄😄

Hi, Guys, from Mullingar in Ireland. Weather great, by Irish standards, but of course can't compete with your weather in Tavira. Ye, we're pining for Lagos and its weather and will keep meeting up in mind - though Tavira is quite a distance from Lagos!

Hi we're also from Mullingar and hoping to move near Tavira to a small town called Vila Real de Santo Antonio. Will be over next month to look at some properties. 😊
