Advise please....

We are a couple from London, currently holidaying  in Alvor, - my husband needs urgent medical care, his knee has gone, can't walk - he is awaiting a knee replacement back in uk, he has a blood disorder that has attacked all his joints, love him....

I need to get him to a medical centre, if I can get him down the stairs, I will need a wheelchair to get him in a taxi!

This is a disaster, we are on our Honeymoon 💕 - I don't know where to start.

You may want to try the central hospital in Lagos. My friends used it recently for emergency help and found it very good?

Hi Patricia

Just in case you need any more help, the HPA Saude private hospital in Alvor itself is very good. It is private but you can get consultations and stuff easily and cheaply and they speak English.

I hope you get to enjoy the rest of your honeymoon with no further problems.

First point of call is your travel insurer.

Decent cover should enable local treatment on an emergency basis and, if necessary, repatriation.

I suggest you do not incur any costs until you spoken to your insurer, to make sure that you are covered.

Actually that’s true, travel insurer would tell you where to get treatment. But maybe the OPs didn’t have insurance?
