Recommend bank

I am just changing away from Santander Totta, their charges are high and they insist on an insurance product.  that is my opinion of course, have changed to Millenium BCP, still had aggro getting account open properly (took 5 visits).. The web site is good and the app is also good.  I do like the virtual Credit Card on MultiBanco (I am not sure if this is available with other banks), as you can set up cards for specific companies or specific amounts only.  anyone then tries to ahck and use the card they would be limited in what they can take.

Like other banks they also have a facility to transfer money from the UK free and at the Via/Mastercard rates, so you get the exchange rates you google.

Remember, credit cards here do not offer the protections you get in the UK.
