I am considering buying a small property in Alcoutim / Castro Marim/ Odeleite areas. Any advice?

Hi, I'm coming to this area at the end of the month to look at some properties and try and get a feel for the area. Seeing as I have not yet learned any Portugese, I am wondering if there any English or French-speaking expats in the area. 3-6 month house swap might also be a possibility. I have a 2-bed garden flat in Bristol, approx 3 miles from city centre. Good transport links.
